Ask for weather only when useful
The weather option fetches a public MET Norway forecast through KitForma’s cache. Coordinates are rounded to a 0.01-degree grid before leaving the browser. That is a forecast location, not a measurement at your exact observing spot.
Forecasts cover a limited future period and can be unavailable. Historical astronomy examples deliberately omit weather. The application does not invent historical cloud values or assume that an unforecast date is clear.
Read the cloud condition conservatively
A slot qualifies only when the forecast supplies a cloud fraction and it is within your selected maximum. Unknown periods fail the weather condition while remaining visible in the evidence. Provider update and retrieval times appear with the report.
Cloud fraction is a model estimate over an area. Thin high cloud, fog, local terrain and rapidly developing weather can still affect observation. The threshold is your planning preference rather than a guarantee of transparent skies.
Recheck close to the session
A useful workflow is to identify astronomical windows first and add weather nearer the planned night. If the provider fails, keep the astronomy result but do not describe it as cloud-qualified. Switching weather off is an explicit choice, not an automatic downgrade.
Exports credit MET Norway under CC BY 4.0 and identify the transformation into time/cloud fields. Keep that source information with a shared chart or calendar. Recheck current conditions before traveling or beginning an outdoor session.
